Damascus International Airport
Damascus International Airport is the main air gateway of the Syrian Arab Republic and the home base of the national carrier. It lies in Rif Dimashq, about 30 km south-east of the capital, at an elevation of 616 metres, and is linked to the city by the airport motorway. The airport has two parallel 3,600-metre runways and two passenger terminals serving international and domestic flights around the clock, and a comprehensive expansion and modernisation programme is under way to raise its capacity in the coming years.
